Imphal, November 10:
AMUCO advisor Dr Dhanabir Laishram today reiterated the organizations stand on the integrity of the State and said it will continue working for peaceful co-existence amongst all section of the communities.
He told reporters at the AMUCO office today that Manipuris have been residing together peacefully irrespective of caste or creed for ages.
It is only the external forces that are creating tension.
Responding to a query on AMUCO's findings on the issue of the "internally displaced persons" related to the recent ceasefire agitation, he said that it was false and the handiwork of some vested interests who are out to mislead the people nationally and internationally through the media.
The AMUCO functionary said that no person left the 84 Kabui villages in the valley and their properties were not damaged.
Besides there was no attack on the hill citizens during the agitation against the NSCN (IM) ceasefire, he said stressing that question of thousands of people leaving the valley during the agitation does not arise.
Firmly stating that development in the urban, rural and hill areas should be taken up equally, AMUCO president Ito Tongbram lamented that the Government has till date failed to provide datas pertaining to supply of minimum basic needs in the rural and hill areas of the State as sought by them one and a half month back.
Pledging to undertake a mission to share the problems and sufferings of the neglected people in remote areas in all spheres, AMUCO had on September 29 requested the TD Director to provide the relevant datas.
